Project Manawa means ‘breath’ or ‘heart’. But would new council offices for its 600 staff on prime reserve land in Queenstown Bay’s CBD ever become our community’s heart or life-giving breath?
We support Cath Gilmour’s submission that the Council has no mandate to build its new offices in Queenstown Bay. We think future council offices would be best located on Frankton Flats where they’d be more central, more accessible for staff and the community, easier to build, and cheaper to boot.
Public submissions have overwhelmingly endorsed Frankton
Flats as the best location for the Council’s new offices. Further evidence, we
believe, that Frankton Flats should and ultimately will become the region’s
principal metropolitan centre.
